Autodesk Packs New Functionalities into 'Fusion 360'- CAD/CAM/CAE Software

Enterprise Technology Review | Saturday, July 04, 2015

FREMONT, CA: Autodesk is all set to release technology upgrades to Fusion 360 solid-modeling CAD/CAM/CAE software every six weeks. These upgrades try to keep up with the company’s expectations to execute product-design workflow functions such as assembly, toolpathing, testing, and simulation on a single platform.

The release mainly focuses on simulation, allowing users to test the design and correct the flaws even before prototyping. A workspace called ‘SIM’ is offered for 2 different simulation studies- Static Stress and Simulation Frequencies. Static stress study allows the user to determine the part of the model, loads to be applied and also displays its effects. While with the latter study, users can get to know the vibration frequencies and deformation resulting from the vibration.

New live review capabilities are added in the version, allowing 2 or more users to interact in real-time with 3D design. It is also propped with keyboard shortcuts; ability to insert patterns into the components; plus 2D drawing space is appended with additional features.

In another instance, Autodesk ventures into producing digital footwear. To be clear, the company integrates its 3D printing softwares, services and technologies with Delcam’s existing software solutions under one brand name ‘Autodesk Footwear’ after taking over the Delcam. The newly formed company designs and also fabricates custom shoes and footwear accessories, from complex upper and sole design to form-fitted insoles.
