Designers to be Curators Soon, AI Holds the Secret!

New AI-powered designing techniques — doing more of the heavy lifting during redundant, tedious tasks —suggest that creative fields are on the verge of radical transformation.

FREEMONT, CA: Gone are the days when graphic designers followed manual approaches. To compose letterheads, business cards, brochures, magazines, books, and posters, designers hunched over a desk. They used to cut and paste paper or assembled metal type on a printing press and processed 35mm film by hand, developing pictures in a dark room with chemicals. But the arrival of the computer changed the entire scene! Layout software and its successors allowed designers to make changes with a click. Graphic designing moving into the digital realm, is now on the verge of another revolution, as Artificial Intelligence (AI) is turning its head towards it.

Acting as curators assisted by technology, the graphic designers of the future will be more creative. That is, designers will provide high-level direction to their AI assistants, including objectives, limitations, and the specific challenges to be resolved. This would free up the designer's time for more creative tasks. Designers will also have an opportunity to structure algorithms in assistance to their creative work, an excellent chance to change the face of the profession forever. Here is more to it!

Automation

A designer's job includes a lot of legwork. A significant part of the time that is spent on problem-solving could be automated by using robots empowered with AI. Operations like correcting and resizing images, cropping, detailing, and humans could do others. Tech giants have developed AI tools which help designers in image pattern identification by editing, patching an image, or reinventing. Context-aware cropping techniques ensures prevention of accidental cropping of the photo subject. Robots can design multiple banners or layout options in different languages. The only job for designers should do to verify them. These optimizations can be executed through AI to spare time to designers for more important decisions.

Intelligent Design Systems

AI also helps to develop robust design systems, which incorporates a blended sequence of modules, patterns, and elements to build a design language. Website builders are increasingly integrating this AI technology into their workflow to assist designers with secondary design decisions. Some are using algorithms and client feedbacks to design custom-tailored websites which align with the client's business strategy. Some AI startups are even developing logos for businesses. AI-assisted web designing offers an interactive teaching mechanism providing useful tips.

Dynamic Visual Styles

There are designing tools that identify the exact image content and applies smart filters based on an image recognition technology to come up with the finest visual effect. The more designers engage with AI tools, the more effectively it can comprehend what the designers are attempting to design. There are AI tools in the market which cab design websites themselves, early entrants into the AI website design market place.

Data Aspects

Designers are becoming more sharp by considering a multitude of user data aspects to customize customer experiences. Combining data sources can give designers an abundant creative insight about customer requirements, which helps in precise decision making. With AI, the potential to use data aspects makes actions more scalable and hyper-personalized, which will increase its viability and accessibility. An enhanced personalization in user experience will translate into amplified relevance and increased conversion for websites.

Now is the time for designers to embrace new technologies. AI offers a multitude of opportunities of succor to automate monotonous tasks and liberate them to focus more on strategic decision makings to ensure personalized, intelligent, efficient, and relevant designs.
