nxLINK, a Smart Sensor Interface from Numerex

Enterprise Technology Review | Monday, May 13, 2019

FREMONT, CA: nxLINK, designed for industrial and commercial applications, a recently developed platform of Numerex, provider of interactive machine-to-machine (M2M) solutions enabling the industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). The new platform extends a ruggedized, compact, battery-operated ‘smart sensor interface’ that connects thousands of sensors that are used for capturing important iIoT data.

The nxLINK delivers critical wireless sensor connection functionality and is a chief component of Numerex’s recently announced nxFAST, an IIoT platform that provides a number of tools for building and deploying secure, flexible and scalable solutions powering the IIoT. It also offers a single source for companies looking for quick deployment of a robust, end-to-end, IIoT solution that addresses their unique specific needs.

nxLINK interface gathers data from the sensors and wirelessly transmits it to either a cellular or satellite communicator, or to a local, smart, control panel. By offering a simple to use GUI interface with maximum flexibility the platform allows users to configure data collection triggers based on threshold attainment. The nxLINK is capable of handling four digital dry contact or analog sensors simultaneously facilitating collection of data for transport, processing, analysis, and input into an application or display in a dashboard.

"As a key component in the nxFAST platform, nxLINK delivers optimum performance in rugged conditions. When paired with the Numerex Network, advanced IIoT devices, and applications built on nxFAST technology, the nxLINK serves as one the Company's devices in a full range of critical components useful for deploying IIoT solutions virtually anywhere," says Jeff Smith, Chief Innovation and Technology Officer at Numerex.

nxLINK can even be deployed in the most demanding manufacturing and remote outdoor monitoring installations as it is water and dust resistant. In addition, the Intrinsically Safe certification (Class 1, Div. 1 Groups A, B, C, D) permits sensor monitoring in explosive atmospheres. The nxLINK functions in temperatures ranging from -10 to 70 degrees Celsius and requires two user-replaceable, high-energy Lithium 3.6V batteries and weighs 5.6 ounces (161 grams) with the batteries installed.
